Where to put the refrigerator? Cabinets or shelves? Do you need a touch faucet? In pursuing the perfect kitchen, it’s easy to miss the small but important little things that make it cozy. To prevent this from happening, we have selected seven places that are often overlooked and offered ideas for decorating them.
We have already written about inconspicuous places in the house we often forget to decorate. Today we decided to pay attention to the kitchen – often a rather problematic area. In apartments – and even more so in studios – there is almost always a shortage of square meters. Still, even if there are enough of them, first of all, we think about making everything safe, functional and ergonomic.
After much research, there is only enough strength for the minimal and most obvious decor: curtains on the windows and a few framed photographs. We are categorically against this state of affairs and invite you to familiarize yourself with the list of kitchen corners that we often neglect. They need thoughtful decoration.
We are surprisingly conservative with the ceiling and almost always limit ourselves to white plaster, but meanwhile, this is the same surface for creativity as walls and floors. Wallpaper, art painting, decoupage, patchwork, stucco, wooden or metal beams, just bright paint – there are plenty of maneuvers for imagination.
Of course, kitchen appliances are not exactly what you need to decorate, but the type and condition of the equipment largely determine the overall impression. Thanks to the efforts of modern manufacturers, stoves, ovens and even microwaves now look like exhibits from science exhibitions. And refrigerators are still beautiful and colorful. Why not spruce up a neutral kitchen set with blue or cheerful Smeg red?
The central place in the kitchen for any hostess (or owner) is the work surface. Of course, nothing should distract from the process and confuse you during cooking, but we do not propose putting an army of porcelain angels on the table for cutting meat. A few minor details can make your work area cozier: a bouquet, bright textiles and potholders, or an unusual apron hook.
What should be a kitchen apron? First of all, practical, and no one will argue with this statement. But sometimes we think only about this component, but a beautiful apron can transform the whole look of the kitchen. That is why, if you started a renovation, take a closer look at beautiful and unusual options: even if you like discreet colors, you can always play with shape, texture or pattern.
Yes, that very narrow part of the wall invariably forms in a small kitchen. This distance is often so small and insignificant that we do not even pay attention to it – but in vain! Just one stroke – and the interior will sparkle in a completely new way. And there is decor for a small space: it can be watches, paintings, posters, a slate board, photographs, flowers in a flowerpot or, if there is no space at all, just beautifully designed notes with recipes.
Properly organized storage is good, and in addition, aesthetic storage is even better. Plastic containers, boxes, and glass jars are useful things, but when they fulfill their main function and please the eye, working in the kitchen becomes much more pleasant. Beautiful jars, baskets and boxes are a real must-have if you store everything not in closed cabinets but on shelves. By the way, you can arrange storage containers to your taste without any problems on your own.
Space above cabinets
It often happens that wall cabinets in the kitchen do not reach directly to the ceiling, and some space remains between it and the upper part. Of course, never used. And it seems that we so rarely look there… But the situation is made up of little things, and that is why it is worth decorating even the most uncomfortable space. Flowers, figurines, beautiful dishes, vases are just a few examples of what can be placed on kitchen cabinets.
