How to transform an apartment neatly, quickly, and efficiently? As a rule, even in the smallest hallway, there is a place for a mirror. You can donate a shoe cabinet, an umbrella, an ottoman, a spacious wardrobe, or a chest of drawers, but you can’t do without a mirror in the hallway. Is it possible to make it a functional element and a natural decoration of the hallway? We give practical advice on the example of a selection of photos.
1. Floor mirror in the hallway
Slowly but surely, floor mirrors are gaining their place in Russian interiors. Comfortable, stylish – they can serve as a bright accent or just a good touch in the hallway’s interior.
2. Full wall mirror
Using huge wall-to-wall mirrors and built-in wardrobes with mirrored doors is a spectacular solution that helps visually expand the space. It is often difficult to call typical hallways spacious, so this “trick” is famous.
3. Mirror of an unusual shape
For those who love everything creative and non-standard, there are many mirrors of the most diverse forms. Such an unusual mirror will be the highlight of the hallway interior.
4. The mirrored ceiling in the hallway
If your hallway has relatively low ceilings and you want to visually raise them, a particular mirrored ceiling tile, as well as mirrored stretch ceilings, will cope with this. Of course, this is not the most common example of using mirror surfaces in the hallway, and it is far from suitable for every style. Still, with professional performance, a spectacular result is guaranteed.
5. Composition of mirrors
Who said that the mirror in the hallway should be one? Several mirrors placed nearby can be an excellent decoration for the hallway. You can, for example, pick up different mirrors in the same frames or make a composition of mirrors of unusual shapes.
6. Mirror in a beautiful frame
An unusual, beautiful frame can transform even the most modest and inexpressive hallway. For classic interiors, mirrors in carved wooden frames are suitable. For ethnic ones – mirrors in frames upholstered in leather. You can choose edges of a simple shape for minimalist ones, but in a non-standard color or with an original texture.
7. Mirror cabinet
Think mirror cabinets are only for the bathroom? However, in the hallway, they also look great, and besides, they are very functional: inside, you can hide keys, care products for clothes and shoes, accessories, and much more.
8. Mirror as part of a headset
Perhaps the most common option is a mirror in the headset. However, this does not mean that your hallway will be ordinary and dull. The secret is simple: do not choose boring headsets, and you will not get flat interiors.
9. Modern Furniture
Modern furniture brands offer hallway mirrors with various functional additions: shelves, hangers, drawers, and hooks—a very stylish and practical solution.
10. Mirror-pictures
For those who do not decide in any way – to decorate the hallway with a mirror or a picture, there are mirrors, pictures that perform both the primary function and the decorative one.
11. Mirror as part of a decorative composition
The mirror doesn’t have to be the critical decorative accent of the hallway. It can perfectly complement the composition of paintings, photographs, accessories.
12. Mirror Wall Tiles
An original solution that adds light to the hallway and expands the space. Great for cladding the entire wall and for decorative niches.
13. Mirrors and lighting
Light sources and mirrors are an excellent and harmonious union. Great for decorating the hallway, illuminated mirrors, and lamps next to the mirror.
14. Mirrored furniture, accessories
Mirrored furniture and interior items are still popular. Why not use them in the hallway? Mirror cabinets and chests of drawers, mirrored shelves, and hangers – furniture brands offer a lot of interest and reflection!
15. Several identical mirrors
A simple and stylish way to decorate your hallway with mirrors is to pick up a few of the same (or almost the same). Symmetry always attracts the eye and adds sophistication to the interior.
Svetlana Ostashova, interior designer:
— The mirror is an important functional and decorative element of the hallway. There are many options for mirrors for different interior styles. But, in my opinion, one of their primary functions is to play with space. Depending on the configuration of the hallway, you can make the room more elongated or increase the height, for example.
According to a psychological point of view, it is not recommended to place a mirror opposite the front door and another mirror: a “corridor” visually appears, which creates discomfort and causes a feeling of slight anxiety.
Remember that mirrors can visually expand and “break” the space. I advise you not to overdo it.
